"SOUTHWEST SPLENDOR" with Artists Mark Daniels & Cliff Vancura
Opening on Saturday, January 14th at 12pm

The opening show of the 2017 season at CasaBella Fine Art Gallery will showcase the works of two outstanding landscape artists, Mark Daniels and Cliff Vancura in a special plein air event. Both artists, who are adept at capturing the ever-changing beauty of the southwest, will demonstrate their skills on the patio of the gallery located in Joesler Village beginning at noon on Saturday, January 14th.   Following the plein air opening, the collections of both artists will be featured at the gallery through February 3rd, 2017.

Gallery owner Tommy Hickey says, "This is a unique opportunity to see art being made, to get to know the artists, watch them work and chat about what inspires them to create, their processes, and how they are able to capture the beauty and essence of the great Southwest."

About the artists:

Mark Daniels

Mark Daniels has been capturing on canvas the beauty and diversity of the Southwest landscape for over 20 years. Trained in fine art and painting at the University of Texas, Austin, and the Scottsdale Artists' School, Mr. Daniels works primarily en plein-air (out of doors). Expressing a sincere and heartfelt response to emotions evoked by his love of the landscape, Mr. Daniels' work has continued to evolve into a synthesis of color harmonies, light and decorative form.

Mr. Daniels travels extensively in Arizona and New Mexico in search of new and exciting subjects, often hiking long distances in remote areas. Not content to work solely form photos in the comfort of his studio, Mr. Daniels relishes being outside in direct contact with Nature and her many moods.

Cliff Vancura

"My aim is not to reproduce what I see, but to create an image that is centered on stability and permanence." Cliff’s path was set at age 11 by a grammar school field trip to the Chicago Art Institute Museum. After that trip the world became a completely different place for him. After earning a BFA in painting and printmaking from the Kansas City Art Institute, he also studied at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and The Corcoran School of the Arts in Washington, D.C.. For the past 30 years Vancura has worked as a professional illustrator, graphic designer and photographer while continuing to evolve as a painter. His drawings and paintings are primarily done plein air and have become a kind of journal of the different places he has lived and visited. I love wandering and looking and taking in the richness of the cultural or natural landscape in the world that surrounds him. The paintings that emerge are an attempt to tell the stories of that world.
