"My path was set at age 11 by a grammar school field trip to the Chicago Art Institute Museum. After that trip the world became a completely different place for me. I later earned a BFA in painting and printmaking from the Kansas City Art Institute. I also studied at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and The Corcoran School of the Arts in Washington, D.C. After migrating to the Pacific Northwest I studied with Ron Lukas and reconnected with my love of painting directly from life. For more than 30 years I’ve supported my family as a professional illustrator, graphic designer and photographer while continuing to pursue my fine art interests and evolve as a painter. Always on the move, my drawings and paintings are primarily done plein air and have become a kind of journal of the different places I’ve lived and visited. I love wandering and looking. Not at or for anything in particular, just looking and taking in the richness of the cultural or natural landscape in the world that surrounds me. The paintings that emerge are an attempt to tell the stories of that world."
