Gina Rossi paints beautiful landscapes with torrent cloud shapes and atmospheric phenomena.
She graduated with honors from the University of Hawaii receiving a BFA and then went on to receive an MFA from the University of Arizona where she taught for several years. The artist now lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and challenges herself every day to paint the beauty of that area with energy and passion taking her inspiration from the amazing landscapes she is surrounded by.
"In my paintings and mixed media artworks, I explore the relationship between color harmonies and surface texture. When painting abstracted landscapes, I most often abstract from a plein air sketch where there is certainly a reference to a place and space but details are left to ones imagination. I am always exploring the fine line between a sense of reality made from abstract marks and forms.
In my non-objective work, I place emphasis more on construction and deconstruction of forms in space. My works feature harmonizing accidental and unexpected connections. I formalize the coincidental and emphasize the conscious process of composition that is behind the seemingly random works."
